Lerwick is Shetland's only town, with a population of about 7,500 – although about half of the islands' 22,000 people live within 10 miles of the burgh. Nanortalik. Greenland’s most southerly town – is unlike any other town in the country. Sat on a small island at the end of a wonderful fjord and surrounded by vast snow-topped mountains, the ‘Place of Polar Bears’ is unique. Qaqortoq is a town in southern Greenland, set within a system of fjords. The town center is home to 18th-century colonial buildings and a landmark fountain.
