Tokyo. From high-end sushi to quick-slurped noodles, Tokyo lives up to its rep as a culinary powerhouse. In areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku, the city delivers the crowds and neon travelers envision. Elsewhere it balances the brash with tranquil gardens and old ways. With its jurisdiction stretching from western mountains to remote southern islands, the capital goes way beyond the expected.

Day 4

Tokyo, Japan - Board Diamond Princess

Day 5
30 Nov 2022
Shimizu, Japan

Shimizu. Sail into the Port of Shimizu and you will understand why it is considered one of Japan’s three most beautiful ports. The sight of Mount Fuji soaring above the surrounding area belies the fact that Shimizu is not only a scenic area but a culturally significant one as well. In addition to Fuji, the area also overlooks Miho-no-Matsubara, a pine tree grove included as one of World Heritage’s constituent properties. St. Barthélemy Island

Day 6
01 Dec 2022
Kobe, Japan

Kobe.  Located between the sea and the Roko mountain range. It is also considered one of Japan's most attractive cities. It has been an important port city for many centuries. Its port was among the first to be opened to foreign trade in the 19th century alongside the ports of Yokohama, Nagasaki, Hakodate, and Niigata.

Day 10
05 Dec 2022
Taipei

Taipei. In many ways, this 300-year-old city is like a living museum. The Taoist temples buzz with the prayers of the hopeful. The wooden boards of Japanese-era mansions creak under the feet of visitors. The pilfered treasures in the National Palace Museum date back 5000 years. Merchant villas to military barracks have been restored, reworked, and now live again as a museum or a shopfront.

Hong Kong, China

Contradiction is part of Hong Kong’s attraction. While the city buzzes with modern commerce, soaring skyscrapers, and sophistication, it remains a place of ancient beliefs and intriguing local customs. Few cities balance old and new like Hong Kong. A city as fiercely modern as it is traditional, life here pulses with vigour and vitality while still honouring ancient customs and beliefs.

Great river and ocean views with some of the best seafood caught fresh each day available in any number of very inexpensive restaurants.

Day 15

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The port of Phu Mey is one of Vietnam’s culinary centres, and your gateway to exploring history-rich Ho Chi Minh City and the seaside resort of Vung Tau. The vibrancy and history offered are enticing. Still fondly known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a continuous whirl of the aroma of fresh noodles, the sight of orange-garbed monks, and the buzzing of scooters, all in a French colonial backdrop.

Tokyo to Singapore Cruise – Diamond Princess – 26 November 2022

Cruise The Far East

The Far East is an exotic Asia – from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia in the south through the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China to Korea and Japan in the north. This is a vast area that remains relatively undeveloped in cruising terms and yet a cruise ship provides the comfort and security of a base from which to explore the wide cultural and scenic diversity on offer. Exotic destinations like Singapore, Bangkok, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo can all be reached. The Far East is almost always included on world cruises and there will be quite a few that pass through and offer these destinations and less frequently visited places like Brunei, the East Coast of Malaysia, and Manila.

 When to Go

Japan

If you’re a fan of spring blossoms and autumn foliage, then you’ll appreciate cruising Japan during the shoulder months of March – April or October. Go during this time to catch cherry tree and maple leaf festivals, celebrated with flower-viewing boating excursions and fairs. Infrequent rainstorms characterize both spring and fall, and the weather is mild, making both ideal periods for a tour of Japan. The best time to cruise Japan can often be decided on travellers’ weather and festival preferences. The climate in Japan falls into four distinct seasons, and each comes with unique seasonal festivals.

South Korea

If you want to see the vibrant pink of the cherry blossoms in bloom, the best time to visit South Korea is between March & May. If you want to see the leaves change colour and enjoy cooler weather, then we’d recommend visiting between
September and November. June, July, and August offer the best conditions, but the weather is hot and humid away from the mountains. In December, January, and February, winter is bitterly cold, with temperatures regularly falling below -10 °C (14 °F) and even lower.

China

A cruise down the awe-inspiring Yangtze River is a must for any visitor to China. The best time to visit is during April-May and September-October when the weather is warm and mild and flight schedules are stable. Of course, since this is the peak time for Yangtze River Cruises, booking far in advance or flexible travel dates are necessary.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar

Other stops on a cruise of Asia may include  Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar. The southern regions of these countries, particularly coastal areas, experience a monsoon season from May to October. Summers in these areas are hot and humid. A more enjoyable time to visit is later in autumn through January, when temperatures are cooler, and rain is unlikely
