Grand Turk

Grand Turk is tiny—narrow as a rail and just 7 miles (11 kilometers) long. But as a popular cruise ship stop, there are plenty of things to do in Grand Turk besides soaking up the sun with a drink at its sprawling cruise port and massive Margaritaville. Stroll along the charming streets of capital Cockburn Town, with its colorful colonial buildings draped with bougainvillea; explore its rugged coast and white sand beaches on a scooter or golf cart; or discover its underwater treasures, from stingrays to some of the world’s best coral wall dives.

Gibbs Cay

Gibbs Cay

Gibbs Cay is a small island off the east coast of Grand Turk. The cay is quite scenic with a beautiful beach and sea oat covered bluffs, but the main attraction is the friendly southern brown stingrays that swim up to meet any visiting boats. These stingrays interact with people and offer an opportunity to experience large wild sea animals close up.

Governor’s Beach

The best beach on the island and doesn’t have the crowds that the Cruise Center Beach has. Found less than a mile north up the coast of the Cruise Center, it’s unfortunately not possible to walk to this location up the coast from the Cruise Center as the main port for Grand Turk blocks a small section of the beach.

Stingray Encounter

Stingray Encounter

You don’t have to scuba to get up close to a stingray in Grand Turk. Excursions to the untouched island of Gibbs Cay provide an easy way to observe these unique sea creatures, whether you snorkel or simply watch the rays frolic in the shallows. Your visit to Gibbs Cay also includes the chance to try conch, a local delicacy plucked fresh from the ocean and prepared in front of you.
