Port Said is the gateway to the Suez Canal, allowing passage between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. The city is set right on the Mediterranean and is mainly constructed from golden-hued stone. As you sail into Port Said watch out for the twin minarets of the mosque. The buildings of the Suez Canal Authority are striking and seem to rise from the sea like an as does the Lighthouse which was built in 1869 and stands at a height of 69 meters.
